Scientific socialism

Scientific socialism is an understanding of socialism as being based on the scientific method or on some empirical basis. The term predates the writings of Karl Marx but came to be associated with his body of work. Marxism is viewed as a contribution to the field of scientific socialism, or may be considered synonymous.
